What are you unboxing? Why did you buy thing (was there a deal involved)? Are you going to paint it in the near future?
While my normal painting queue tends to be for specific events or commissions (BattleMechs and Mechwarrior pilots for our tabletop Battletech game, armies for Infinity or Killteam), I was actively looking for a model with a dynamic pose that would let me work on skin tones and non-metallic metal techniques. I ran across LimboDivision209 and picked up the 35mm versions of “Utsunomiya Moeto” and “Yuxian Lin” for my personal collection/technique practice.

All the precautions were great. Not a single broken piece of resin in either figure. As someone who paints Kingdom Death, an official instructional guide is always a godsend. While these both were self-explanatory without the guide, having the reference is a bonus in my book.

As someone who paints Kingdom Death, an official instructional guide is always a godsend. While these both were self-explanatory without the guide, having the reference is a bonus in my book. Details look great. Not many mold lines on the initial glance, good dry fit with few gaps between the pieces. Facial features could have been more detailed, but that’s more of a personal preference than anything else. Honestly for everything else being good, I’m fine with a lesser detailed face. Means I must use more skill to bring attention to it!

Each figure came with a corresponding card, similar in size and material to a credit card, with the art on the front and the model number in back.
How do you feel about what you bought? Is it what you expected? Are you satisfied?
Buying from an unfamiliar boutique is always a risk. While I do wish the models had more details on the face, I was happy with the quality of the models overall. For upcoming releases I’ll probably spring for the 75mm versions (they were sold out by the time I made my purchase). Everything arrived intact, shipping was within the estimated timeframes (about 4 weeks) and I’m looking forward to testing my skills.
For both models, my aim will be to follow the box art closely, meaning lots of NMM, skin tones, and attempting a mesh/see through look for portions of the clothes. As display pieces for my personal collection, they’re not on a deadline so likely won’t be painted up until closer to end of Q2. The plan will be to paint on subassembly for much of the work, then glue together for the final touches.
All in all, I’ll be adding LimboDivision209 to my list of boutiques to order from again.
